Student Activities

The purpose of this organization shall be to recognize academic achievements in first-generation college students, create enthusiasm for scholarship, to promote leadership, and to provide support networks for first-generation students within and across college chapters.

The purpose of Alpha Chi shall be the promotion and recognition of scholarship and of those elements of character which make scholarship effective for good among the students in the academic divisions of colleges and universities in the United States of America and other countries.

A theatre honor society to acknowledge those demonstrating a high standard of accomplishment in theatre and, through the expansion of Alpha Psi Omega among colleges and universities, providing fellowship for those interested in theatre. The society is not intended to take the place of any regular theatre clubs or producing groups, but as students qualify, they may be rewarded by election to membership in this society.

The Carson-Newman Association for the Education of Young Children is a group dedicated to bettering the lives of children by providing resources and support for caregivers and educators.

C-NAFCS is a professional organization dedicated to bringing people together to improve the lives of individuals, families and communities. C-NAFCS gives FCS students the opportunity to grow socially and intellectually while aspiring toward their future professions through professional development and networking opportunities.

Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM) builds Christian community through worship, discipleship, fellowship and service.

Best Buddies pairs college students in one-to-one friendships with people throughout the community with intellectual/developmental disability.

Tri Beta promotes interest in scholarly attainment and investigation in biological science along with the dissemination of information and new interpretations among students of the life sciences.

Also known as the Calliopean Society, Chi Lambda Sigma contributes to the refinement of the individual in mind, body and spirit through programs, service projects and social situations.

Promoting excellence in the profession of counseling by recognizing counseling scholarship, research, leadership and practice.

College Republicans promotes the principles of the Republican Party at C-N, aids in the election of Republican candidates at all levels of government, assists in the functioning of the Republican Party at local, state and national levels, develops political skills and leadership abilities among Republican students as preparation for future service to the Party and community.

Delta Omicron fosters fellowship and service through music for our department and community, as well as an awareness of the growing music community and love for music as a whole.

“WE MAKE FUN HAPPEN!” With their fellow students in mind, EPC schedules a variety of programs including concerts, campus activities and other major events each year. It is C-N’s student programming board and effectively functions as the primary programming arm for the Office of Student Activities. Being student-led and run, EPC offers many ways to get involved, as well as many exciting activities for fellow students.

FCA shares the gospel to the campus of Carson-Newman using the influence of coaches and athletes. We also strive to encourage discipleship and create an encouraging and supporting community for believers.

The purpose of the First Generation Community is to create a sense of belonging for first-generation students, provide helpful resources to bridge experience gaps, and develop connections among first-generation students.

Gamma Beta Phi Society is a national honors and service society. Our watchwords are service, scholarship and character. We aim to broaden our members’ academic and philanthropic lives so that they may graduate ready to make a difference in the world.

The purpose of the Gamma Ray Art Society is to be a fun, inclusive, social group for all students regardless of major. No artistic ability is required.

Gamma Sigma Sigma unites college and university students in the spirit of service to humanity and to develop friendships among students of all races and creeds.

Further enrich education with a focus on kitchen and bath, residential and commercial design, by networking with professionals in the field, serving the community through design-related projects and encourage group participation and collaboration to empower students with team-building skills.

International Club brings students from a variety of cultural backgrounds together in order to raise multicultural awareness and encourage friendship in a global setting.

Kappa Epsilon Mu focuses on community outreach with an emphasis on the physical sciences.

Kappa Omicron Nu is a national honor society dedicated to recognizing and encouraging excellence in scholarship, research, and leadership in family and consumer sciences. The mission is empowered leaders. Kappa Beta Xi Chapter shall promote scholarship and encourage intellectual development; promote research and foster the spirit of inquiry; confer distinction for high achievement; promote leadership development; stimulate student and faculty dialogue; enrich the intellectual environment of higher education institutions; encourage high standards of practice and ethical behavior; and promote attitudes of professional responsibility for the public good.

Mortar Board recognizes college seniors for their exemplary scholarship, leadership and service.

Mossy Creek Maniacs supports C-N athletics and builds community among students.

Phi Alpha Theta promotes the learning of history to provide students a safe place to discuss events occurring in our society.

The purpose of this club is to empower and support current Hispanic students to embrace their roots in hopes to increment the number of Hispanic students at Carson-Neman. This club will seek to promote diversity and cultural awareness opportunities to the student body and staff of Carson Newman.

Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) is a campus ministry that reaches college students from all backgrounds with the hope of Jesus Christ. College is a time when beliefs are explored, decisions are made, and lives are changed. We invite students into authentic relationships and the study of God’s Word. Through the ministry of RUF, students discover the love of Christ, find their significance in God’s redemptive story, and engage in the life of His church.

Relaxation and Creativity Club uses creativity as a stress-reliever through artistic projects like knitting, painting, song-writing and more. No talent required!

Designed for Spanish speakers and students to congregate and learn more about the Hispanic community, members participate and host cultural enrichment events such as historical holidays that advance understanding of surrounding cultures, as well as engage in Hispanic community development by participating in service projects.

Members take part in professional activities and service to the community to promote growth of future nutrition professionals.

Catering to the students of the past, present, future. We are a part of campus events for the currents students of C-N and participate in certain events with alumni and donors. Our job is to be campus leaders and represent C-N with great respect and dignity.

SAAC is a service and fundraising organization made up of appointed representatives from each C-N athletic team. SAAC participates in service events such as Be The Match and raising money for disaster relief as well as funds throughout the year for Make-A-Wish.

Student Business Leaders assist in the professional, educational and social development of college students interested in business and provides an association for college students actively interested in the field of business and encourages interaction between business executives, faculty and students of business.

The purpose of this club is to provide pre-dental students with information necessary to a successful path towards dental school along with developing a sense of community service and leadership. Members will share experiences and knowledge among others to further the common goal of admission to dental school.

The Student Government Association (SGA) are student representatives who are willing to work to meet the needs of all students represented on campus.

The Student Nursing Association aids in the development of the whole person, his/her professional role and responsibility for the health care of people in all walks of life, establishes cohesiveness between students and faculty and provides cooperation, communication and organization.

Providing professional development opportunities for future TN teachers, Student Tennessee Education Association builds a sense of community among education licensure students.

The primary mission of Student Veterans of America Chapter at Carson-Newman University is to provide support, resources, and advocacy to veterans, service members, and eligible dependents currently enrolled as students of Carson-Newman University to ensure their success in higher education. Student Tactics Club teaches the general public on what it takes to be an Officer in the Army by using Army doctrine and practical training exercises to enhance critical thinking skills and situational awareness.

The Hidden Opponent strives to spread awareness and break the stigma of mental health among student-athletes.

A diverse small group, The Village seeks to help promote diversity through worship style, structure of event, and being strictly student-fun. The founders, Chainna Scott and T.J. Bryant, strive to not only bring African American culture to the campus, but also hope to inform students, faculty, and the community of the cultural diversity that is represented on campus. More than just a small group, The Village aspires to create collaborative events that promote minority awareness, volunteering in the community, and promoting a genuine atmosphere for all students to feel comfortable to join and share.

iYADA is a bible study designed to bring girls from all over campus together to know God and equip them to make God known on campus and in the world.

YOKE Youth Ministries mobilizes college students as volunteers to build relationships with local middle school students with the ultimate goal of sharing Christ with the students.

YAFE strives to enlighten and educate C-N’s community on issues related to multicultural characteristics that make each one of us unique. YAFE also seeks to facilitate the development of a respectful, all-inclusive campus culture where we understand that life is not so much about “what” we are but it’s about “who” we are.

Providing a framework to promote the general principles of Young Americans for Freedom which were adopted in Sharon, Connecticut on September 11, 1960, C-N’s chapter of this organizations holds educational activities and provide conservative leadership and to bring about the objectives outlined in the Sharon Statement, as well as assisting students in their efforts to understand and promote conservatism on campus and in the surrounding community.

Young Life invites kids to follow Christ, care for them regardless of their response and change lives in the process.

Young Women of Pormise supports and partners with C-N and its mission and vision through volunteer and philanthropic efforts.
